Unit 9

Only one more post left after this week! It is amazing to me how fast this class has gone by. I hope to see and hear out of some of my classmates as we continue our personal growth!

Unit 9

I felt that the Loving kindness and the Subtle Mind where the two most beneficial practices from this term. Loving Kindness has been extremely beneficial to me over the last few weeks since it was introduced to us. I find that it helps me develop my patience and understanding for people around me. Using this exercise on a daily basis can help to overcome any ill feelings towards people in your life as well as those that pass through it. The Subtle Mind practice I feel was more beneficial to my personal development. Using the Subtle Mind practice has been helping me to grow towards a unity consciousness. This practice teaches us how to use our breathe to calm our mind. This practice has helped me keep a calm mind in my daily routine. When work gets busy or I get overwhelmed with work or school I am able to bring myself back down by using my breath. I hope that as time progresses after this class has ended that I will be able to continue my growth towards unity consciousness. Using these two practices on a daily basis or alternating the two practices will help me to transcend towards unity consciousness and improve my mental fitness.

    I tend to agree with you on the Subtle Mind because I have tried the other ones and they work but the Subtle Mind had been more beneficial for me in calming my mind from pretentious thoughts and wandering thoughts. I beleve this would work for my clintele because in todays microwave era everyone is in a hurry and the loving-kindness would take them to long to achieve. I like the loving-kindness, but that is a process that would not produce immediate results. When working with seniors and children you need something to get their attention now, then move forward to the loving-kindness practice. I think I would use visualization before loving-kindness, thinking it out, because, again is something that works right away.
    I am glad the subtle mind works for you as it is working for me. Good luck on the final project and your time at Kaplan University!
